    4) Huon Pine Walk

      Hi Alvina
Thank you for your inquiry about visiting the Tahune Airwalk
The Airwalk will take around 1 hour, the Hang glider depends on how busy it will be on the day, but allow at least 30 minutes for the experience. The swinging bridges will take another hour and the huon pine walk can be done in around 25 minutes. Please allow time for a break, we have a fully licensed cafe on site plus a retail shop. There are also several walks and stops in between Geeveston and the Airwalk worthwhile visiting.
Please allow for the 90 minutes drive from Hobart
      Kind regards

Thanks, how far away is each attraction?

        • Sarah Lockyer

Hi Alvina, all the attractions are within walking distance of the Visitor Centre. The AirWalk is a 50 minute return walk; the swinging bridges is a 1 hour loop walk (or 1.5 hours when combined with the AirWalk); the Huon Pine walk is a 20 minute return walk; the Eagle hang glider is a 10 minute walk from the Visitor Centre. The mountain bike track takes approx 1 hour riding. Please feel free to phone the Heritage Centre for further information on 1300 720 507. We look forward to seeing you soon!

I would like to plan to go to Huonville from Hobort airport for Tahune Airwalk and Eagle Hang Glider. But I need to back to Kettering on about 3:00-3:30pm to catch up the ferry to Bruny Island. Do I have enough time to do that? I will depart Hobart airport at about 10:30am.

    Optional:
    Swinging Bridges Walk
    Huon Pine Walk

    Thanks,
    Fiona

      Hi Fion
please allow 2 hours to travel from the airport to the air walk, and 1 hour back to Kettering. This will give you 90 minutes to do just the air walk and the hang glider, but not to explore all the site has to offer.
      kind regards

I am interested in Visiting in February 2014. I am travelling alone. Is there any public transport or do you have any recommendations to get to your establishment and what is the minimum overnight stay.

    Cheers

    Tina.

        Dear Sarah,

Thanks for your information. do we need to make booking prior to our arrival or just drive and show up on the day we want? Is there any free parking space for our car? By the way, can you email me the a la carte menu with price of the cafe?

        Thanks and regards,

        386 days agoReply
        • Sarah Lockyer

          Hi Clara,
Hopefully you have received the menu via email now? Booking is not essential, however you can pre-purchase tickets online. Most of our visitors drive to Tahune on their chosen day and purchase tickets at site. There is plenty of free parking on site.
          Thank you,
          Sarah

In Hobart on a Cruise ship on Tuesday 26 Nov for a full day in Hobart – want to do the walk and from reading above we need to hire a car to get out to you for the 90 min drive. Can you advise are you open that day and if so is it a manageable day – I suspect we wouldn’t be out of the Cruise Terminal until 9am, get a car and then back before 5pm. Your advise would be much appreicated

    Hello,

I find that there is no public transport to Tahune Airwalk.
Me & my friend do not have driving license.
Is there any taxi or car & driver renting service in Hobart?
How much would you expect the fare from City Centre?
    Please kindly reply.
    Thanks.

Hi, I am bringing a group down in April 2014 but some are seniors. I remember coming about 8 years ago and you had a little motorised vehicle that took my elderly mum up the hill and around abit. Is that still available? Can you cater for several folk who are not good walkers?
    With thanks
    Judy

    297 days agoReply
    • Sarah Lockyer

      Dear Judy,
Thanks for your enquiry. Whilst we don’t have the motorised buggy available for guest transport any more, you are able to drive your own vehicle/s through the site. Parking is available directly opposite the AirWalk entry or 220m along a flat gravel path.

For larger groups booked in advance (10 or more people), we can arrange transport in our mini bus. To book, please phone the Heritage Centre on 1300 720 507 mentioning you will require transport to the AirWalk entry.

      Kind regards,
      Sarah

Hi, Understand that your opening hour is from 9am-5pm in March. If I could only arrive at 4.30pm, would I be allow to finish my Tahune Airwalk plus Swinging Bridges Walk, which will take ~1.5 hour and leave at ~6pm?

    283 days agoReply
    • Sarah Lockyer

      Hi Tommy,
Thanks for your comment. Yes we are open 9:00am to 5:00pm during the month of March. Sunset is between 7:00pm and 8:00pm and we generally recommend 1.5 hours for the AirWalk and swinging bridges walks. It is possible therefore to leave at 6:00pm (just follow the signs), bearing in mind the Visitor Centre and cafe will be closed. There are outdoor toilet facilities open 24 hours a day for your convenience.
      See you in March!
      Cheers,
      Sarah

What is the address used in GPS/Google Map to get here?

    118 days agoReply
    • janelle.keynes

you can try a number of things.
The easiest way is to head to our Forest and Heritage Centre in Geeveston. They will direct you from there. From this location it is only half hour drive through the beautiful rainforest until you reach the tahune airwalk.

If you would like a specific site location try the following in google maps or your gps:

      Tahune AirWalk, Geeveston, Tasmania, Australia
      Latitude : -43.095476 | Longitude : 146.730729

Manuka Road, Southwest National Park, Tasmania 7001, Australia
      Latitude : -43.095476 | Longitude : 146.730729

Hi I’m looking at doing the Airwalk, Swinging bridges and the hang glider are they all at one price or does the one price cover everything and if early January a good time to come
    thank you

    106 days agoReply
    • janelle.keynes

      Hi Kayla,
The $26 per adult ticket is for access to the three walk we have available to you on site.
It will be an extra $15 for the Eagle Hang Gliding.
January is a beautiful time of year to visit the AirWalk.
Keep in mind that we are in a rainforest so are subject to rain and wind all year round. Generally speaking we have sunny clear days in January but please come prepared for all weather conditions.
Also keep in mind, we close Christmas Day and on hazardous weather conditions – if you are unsure if the conditions are suitable on the day you choose to visit, please call 1300 720 507

Hello. I do believe that I just saw an ad on tv that Tasmanian residents get into the Tahune Airwalk for free, is that correct? I hope so because we like bringing overseas visitors for a visit, as is the case this Sunday, but it can get pricey when you go several times a year. Thanks

  16. Suzanne Morgan

    Hi there
This sounds amazing, and I know my brother, his girlfriend and my 2 kids will love all these walks, but my 80 year old mother is terrified of heights, so there’s no way she’d go for the airwalk or swinging bridges. Is she able to just do the Huon Pine trail? If so, how much would that cost?
    Thanks very much
    Suzanne

    48 days agoReply
    • janelle.keynes

      Hi Suzanne,
Entry to the site is $23.40 for a concession which she would be eligible for and $26 for an adult.
Sorry, but we do not discount if you only choose to do one walk.
We guide many people and speak with hundreds of people who are afraid of heights and still manage to complete the Airwalk as it is a very sturdy steel structure with very little movement.
See how you go on the day, but most end up being ok and loving that they have achieved such a great challenge within themselves.
      Hope this helps.
      Regards, Janelle

    Hi,
I am planning my trip to Tahune Airwalk. Is there any public transport from Geeveston to the airwalk? Thanks

    27 days agoReply
    • janelle.keynes

No sorry Clarice we don’t run a shuttle from Geeveston to Tahune AirWalk.
Though it is a beautiful half hour drive through a gorgeous rainforest with a few short walks on the way.
